Saturday evening was awarded the annual prize offered by the European Film Academy, the European equivalent of the Oscars. Austrian director Michael Haneke took the prize for The White Ribbon. Moreover, the film won three awards in total. Romanian premiere of the film will take place in February.

Kate Winslet took the award for Best Actress for her role in The Reader.
