Top attacks on social networks
2After the last post I just found something realy interesting wich maintains my opinion about social networks.
The ranking was compiled by Stefan Tanase from Kaspersky Lab, at Webstock. It is made in 2009.
1. January 2009: massive spam campaign on LinkedIn. Pictures of naked celebrities, leading to malware
2. February 2009: first commercial tool to do spam on Twitter. Anyone impossible to follow so many more people on Twitter, and can give updates automatically
3. Aprile 2009: emergence of a worm on Twitter developed a couple of 17 years, who subsequently received a job in an IT company
4. April: Twitter hack the admin panel of a French-looking. A number of passwords of emails were obtained in this way
5. May 2009: a search tool for email addresses on Twitter and collecting them. Followed attacks in real-time personalized
6. June 2009: trending topics on Twitter have been handled. The most successful subjects are exploited for attacks viraliza
7. June 2009: first service was shortened URL broken
8. June 2009: Twitter account’s Guy Kawasaki was broken. 140 thousand people, trackbacks’s Kawasaki, could see a dangerous link
9. June 2009: emergence Koobface, a worm specifically designed for social networks. People are 10 times more likely to click on such a link than the one came via email
10. August 2009: Twitter bootnet attacked. It is suspected that the substrate was political: a political blogger in Georgia had silenced
How you can see Twitter is in the top with 7 of 10 attacks on their network. So why I should get a virtual life on a social network ? To have my informations hacked and after that to find out that my other accounts have been hacked too ? Really, I don’t want to.
Too many social networks
1Nowadays social networks are growing and growing every day, and because I’m not a fan of this kind of socializing I always advise those who are to go out and get a life, a true life. I understand that with this social networks come some benefits too, but what are those benefits ? Well I found just four benefits, wich I think include others: you can make some new friends (usualy they are just some virtual friends, because maybe you will never have the oportunity to meet them in real life), you can keep in contact with some real friends who maybe left abroad, and you can share your activity with others and maybe someone will apreciate you and your activity.
But it is said that you can make so many friends and you can even find your love. Well this is just like bullshit. Why I would prefer to find my love using a social network, beucause I don’t want to chat with someone who have a picture with who knows what playmate and if I want to meet her, she is going to tell me that she don’t want to, because of some real life issues (who knows, maybe she already have a boyfriend or maybe she is not the one who let me know). I don’t want to become addicted to those social networks because I have to come online to talk wiht my virtual girlfriend. That’s why I realy want to have a life, and I truly advise you to get one too.
